Would a laptop fit into this category?
I think that these days you can give whatever you want for anniversary gifts!
My girlfriend who got married last October got her husband a Wii and he got her an iPhone… Its your anniversary, give what you feel comfortable! Congratulations!

The traditional first anniversary is the "paper anniversary". The more modern one is clocks.

Well, if you add in a printer…
Who says the gift has to fit into the traditional first anniversary paper category? And computers definitely fall into the clock category.

Paper for the first. You can search online for it but it is paper. I got a deed to our house. Be creative….a friend of mine did a scrapbook for his wife.

Traditionally, it’s paper. You buy what you
think your spouse would most enjoy.

If you want to stick with paper…..
get a page of nice stationary and write a poem to her,
or tell her why you love her
or to simplify the last one, "12 things i love about you" (I picked twelve, one for each month)
or maybe 12 things i enjoyed with you during our first year of marriage
give it to during a quiet, candlelit dinner

I don’t think a laptop would fit in the traditional categories, but I think it is cute to follow them. You could always make it fit (like buy her a really nice card made from organic paper or fancy paper something (really highlighting the "paper" aspect, with a picture of the gift inside. Then you can give her the laptop (a great gift idea, by the way) and still follow the the tradition.
Good Luck!
